As the most unique and controversial writer in English literary history, Lawrence has been given a tremendous attention for a long time. Despite of his short and difficult life, Lawrence has always been persistent in writing, leaving a large sum of immeasurable legacy to the world classic works. Lawrence, in his novels created 12 escapee images, who as an integrated whole serve the inherent connections and logical development. This paper, through a comprehensive analysis of these escapees, discusses their pursuit of the dream of Rananim. This paper is dedicated first to Lawrence's quest for Rananim in reality, presenting its origin, its meaning as well as its disillusionment in the real world. Then this paper turns to Lawrence's pursuit of the dream of Rananim in the fictional world. In his novels, Lawrence presents us a material world which is above human existence, with the capitalist industrial civilization and Victorian moral codes woven together. Facing such a society in which the relationship between man and woman, man and man and man and nature is alienated, the escapees start their journey in pursuit of the ideal state of existence-self's integrity and harmony, and then the dream of Rananim. This paper is dedicated to the discussion of how to achieve a complete and harmonious self from the following aspects: the perfect relationship between man and woman, the harmony between man and nature, the harmony between man and the primitive civilization. Lawrence wrote most of his novels with open endings which may come to infinite possibilities. To some extent, it means Lawrence cannot give a definite answer to the question whether Rananim will be realized. Therefore, the Rananim that Lawrence is trying to seek in the novel world is only a symbolic victory.
