David Herbert Lawrence(1884-1930),one of the most important writers in the British literary world in the twentieth Century,is also one of the most controversial writers. It is an important writer in the transition period of realism to modernism. In his life,D.H.Lawrence created 12 novels, more than 70 short stories, nearly a thousand poems,8 dramas,a great number of travels and letters,a large number of papers and comments about politics, philosophy, history and art,and 1 paintings.D.H.Lawrence is a world-famous novelist. The novel is the main form of his creation, which embodies Lawrence's criticism about modern civilization, the thinking of gender issues and self-reflection.So far,his works are still highly valued by world literary circles. The period from 1920 to 1925 was the time of Lawrence's wandering and seeking out of England, was a pilgrimage pursuit of "rananim".The journey ended when D.H.Lawrence returned to the Europe.Lawrence's novels in the transformation period were called"Pilgrimage Novels"."Rananim" is taken from a Hebrew song hummed by his friend S.S.Koteliansky,meaning "youth, vitality,or prosperity".The search for "rananim" is not only reflected in Lawrence's world cruise, but also in the creation of his novels."Rananim" is an important theme in Lawrence's novels, especially in his later Pilgrimage Novels. This article is divided into three parts:the introduction, the text and the conclusion.Among them, the body part is divided into four chapters. At present, the academic circles at home and abroad generally regard it as his social ideal or psychological complex, etc. The Lack of a holistic grasp of his later Pilgrimage Novels. The theories and critical methods used in the study are relatively single, such as sociology, archetypal criticism, psychoanalytical criticism, etc. So far,There is not a monograph and a thesis, which use various theories and critical methods to explain the theme of "rananim" in D.H.Lawrance later Pilgrimage Novels multiply and deeply. This paper makes comprehensive use of comparative literature,close-reading,feminist criticism, social history criticism, psychoanalytical criticism and other critical methods. It has multiple interpretations from the perspective of sociology, philosophy and religion, then study the underlying reasons which cause the theme of "rananim".The introduction part starts from four aspects:the reasons for choosing the topic, the research status at home and abroad, the significance of the topic, the research methods and the interpretation of main terms."Rananim" is Lawrence's social ideal from the perspective of sociology.First,D.H.Lawrence hopes to find an ideal place in reality.Natural waters are obstructing the invasion of industrial civilization. The protected land is full of natural primordial atmosphere. The warm and pleasant environment provides a free environment for the living on the land.Taos and Lake Chapala almost made his dream come true. But he neglected the gap between reality and ideal, and could not create inspiration in these places. He didn't find his "rananim" during this time,he had to put it in his creation to achieve it.Second,D.H.Lawrence believes that social transformation should start from individuals and simplify social structure as much as possible. Therefore, there are two core relationships in Lawrence's social network:leaders and people, men and women. In these two relationships, his views on the ideal society are explained in detail:everyone is gathered together in order to find a complete life. This society is the paradise he yearned for,"rananim"."Rananim" embodies the primitivism tendency of D.H.Lawrence from a philosophical point of view. The development of modern industrial civilization causes the alienation of human and nature.Human instinct is closely related to nature. To retrieve human instincts, the relationship between nature and nature should be reestablished and return to nature. He believes that nature is spiritual and that every space can breed unique culture. Therefore, the first step to save the soul of modern people is to respond to the call of "the spirit of the space" and return to the original nature. In addition,he thinks that the modern human's brain is too developed, causing human alienation to be inhuman. To save the human soul,it is necessary to return to the bottom of the human life by advocating "blood-consciousness" and sex.Only if everyone keeps on the fire of the original vitality can he become a complete man,so as to find his "rananim"."Rananim" embodies the "sex religion" of D.H.Lawrence from the point of view of religion. It condenses his thoughts on religion, including his belief in flesh and blood and his way to save the world. Therefore, his religious belief,on the one hand, criticizes and inherits the Christian belief of God,on the other hand,it draws on and absorbs the original religious connotation and forms his new theological belief.Divine sex is the best way to save the world.Sex is a great God to him.Whether it is heterosexual or homosexual, the neutral position of his works is transcendental.Sex is the only way of personal and social life. Finally,to explore the underlying causes for the "rananim" theme in Lawrence's writing.Social reasons mainly include the conception of English literature to the future before and after the first World War,the return of the primitivism in twentieth Century and the Religious Redemption Consciousness in twentieth Century. The personal reasons are Lawrence's "rananim" complex, his family religious tradition, his "sex religion",and his strong desire for "sense of belonging"In the concluding part, through the multi angle interpretation of the "rananim"theme in his later "pilgrimage novel",the conclusion is that the third stage is the deepening of his creation rather than a turning point. This stage not only continues the important content of earlier stage creation, but also lays the foundation for later creation. The theme of "rananim" has inherent contradictions and tension. From its interpretation,we can also see that his thoughts and creation left for countless generations to think and explain.
