Modern Chinese ...... ...... "format Research

There are two uses of"you……you……"pattern in contemporary Chinese--- one is parataxis ,another is non-parataxis. In teaching Chinese to students studying overseas, students tend to confuse the two usages. Although there exists researches on"You"and"you……you……", none of these researches have study the two simultaneously, and few studies have been conducted on the distinctions of the two syntactic patterns.By analyzing the corpus, this essay focuses on the grammar of the structure. Based on the comparison of the two structure's form and semantics, this essay sums up the difference and the prerequiste.The parataxis"you……you……"can connect three kinds of elements: word, phrase and clause, the most important structure is"you word 1 you word 2". The structure can be used as predicate , clause and attributive. The relationship can be analyzed as parataxis\declination\disjunctive.This essay also investigates a similar structure"you shi……you shi……"。The non-parataxis structure connects clauses of verbal group. Any part of the structure can be used as a clause of a resumptive relative clause. The two"you"don't have the same meanings.Based on the compareing of the parataxis"you……you……"and the non-parataxis"you……you……", the essay finds there are many differences on the feature of form and semantics.
