This paper, on one hand, focusing upon the modernization of traditional arts and crafts, mainly discusses the possibilities of further renewal and reforms of traditional arts and crafts in the market-economic society; it also approaches the ways of combination of these traditions, including their technical methods, mode of production and aesthetic conceptions with modern thoughts, technologies and fashions, which will meet the needs of the modern markets and modern life as well. On the other hand, it discusses the importance and necessities of intellectual property rights of products of traditional arts and crafts in the modern society, which will guarantee the good environment for and strong competitive power of survival and development traditional arts and crafts in the present age.
