Shanghai Opera Education Pattern

With the development of society, the education of traditional Chinese opera has also been experiencing the great changes. The thesis places its emphasis on the analysis of the methods on traditional Chinese opera in different periods and picks out some examples of traditional Chinese opera institutions to show the whole development way of the education of Chinese traditional opera. The present situation of Shanghai traditional opera education is investigated in five aspects: educational philosophy, teachers troop, teaching facility, specialized construction and study atmosphere. Study materials and examples are taken from the traditional opera college of STA (Shanghai Theatre Academy) and the Shanghai Traditional Opera School attached by STA. The analysis of the two schools is to explore the orientation and the proper teaching method of traditional Chinese opera under the background of Shanghai.There is a comparison between the education of ancient Chinese opera, Chinese spoken drama, in order to get some clues of the problems and improvements of the current education of Chinese traditional opera along with the suggestions and advices on the basic educational mode of Shanghai traditional opera.
