After ten years when it was came out, the first part of this fiction of its newest version named "brothers" was released in the second half year of 2005 by the eminent writer YuHua, who just pushed his book's second part into the market after six months. The unprecedented impact "brothers" exerted on China's contemporary fiction area after it was publicized, had been aroused by the tremendous literary controversy of its range, scale and extend. The book comprises its writer's painstaking effort with the immense expectation from its readers and features diverse characteristics compared to writer's previous writings. This thesis aims to give insights into the theme and narration method of the "brothers", so as to explore the prominent thing embodied by the fiction, particularly the difference between this one and the writer's earlier works, which, reveals writer's literary style's changing, to some extent, by pointing out why this kind of change shows up in "brothers". The theme of the "brothers" concerns "burst of lust", "the seeking and disappearance of dignity" and "the showcase of culture-thinking" closely in order to create the story. Meanwhile, the writer presents three outstanding characteristics—civilian, clarity and obscurity in terms of narration method. The above three characteristics embody two different eras bearing different social stuff, which is expressed and pondered by the writer, who just conducts a comparison between modern time and the times of culture revolution, promoting readers to give a double-check to the past and modern, which exactly could considered to be the unique aim that the writer is eager to demonstrate.
