Shu Wei is a renowned poet between Qianlong and Jiaqing times in the Qing Dynasty. He is called"three celebrity in left side of Changjiang River"with Sun Yuanxiang and Wang Tan. Shu Wei′s life experiences is very rough.. He is born in a scholarly family, and is very intelligent and diligent since his childhood. He has not given up the imperial civil service examination. But after being the selected person in his 24 years old, he had not been able to obtain the title of the three highest scorers in the palace examinations, and not sought the title with little power. In order to keep the family, he is compelled to work in outside. He has ever been an assistant to the government official, also joined the army in southwest. He has not gotten rid of a lower level writer′s destiny. He is impoverished and disappointed in all his life and dying in Jiaqing 20 years. He has written"Pingshuizhai Poetry anthology","Pingshuizhai Notes on poets and poetry"and so on.Shu Wei makes friends numerously including some literary seniors, poets, and artists. These friends give him many help in his life and spirit, also exchange the view on the literary and art with him. They enabled his poetry to have a rich content.In Shu Wei′s poetry theory, he advocates that the poetry should express true feelings of poets. He also takes poet′s experience and knowledge in the poetry creation function. His creation has echoed his theory. The content has been widespread. He writes his travel and tour, expresses his individual emotion and the realistic disaffection, reflects people′s hardship and society′s darkness. These poetries have reflected the decrepit essence of feudalism to a certain extent. His poetry anthology also has many picture poetries, music poetries and human relations poetries. A part of Shu Wei′s poetries have described the natural scenery and minority′s custom in Southwest. It is development to the poetry of Qing Dynasty. In the artistic style, his poetry has both feelings and scholarship. He likes to use many literary references. His literary elegance is gorgeous and colorful. The poetry is wonderful and strange from the selection to the idea. The words is powerful and freely. His poetry instructs the new trend that the poetic custom transforms.As a characteristic poet, Shu Wei is a powerful supporter to the Qing Dynasty poetic liberation that Yuan Mei initiates. He is playing the strong character by the original creation′s spirit not only add the realistic content to early"soul poem", but also influence Gong Zizhen, pushing this literature innovation movement to mature.
