This thesis chooses the Chinese Mongolian theme films as the main research subject, and further points out some problems existing in Chinese Mongolian theme film creation, aiming to find the development paths of future Mongolian theme films and provide some practical references for the development of Chinese minority films by studying other ethnic group film creation experience in China and the mode of national identity in Hollywood western films creation. The thesis contains five parts: introduction, carding of Chinese Mongolian theme films, space expression and anxiety ---memory of grassland culture in urbanization, hybrid state and identity crisis---emotional ownership in multicultural vortex, and conclusion. The first part mainly presents the necessity of carding on Chinese Mongolian theme films from the perspectives of shooting viewpoint differences between national and non-national directors as well as the brief literature review on the research results. The first chapter, before carding on Chinese Mongolian theme films, first clearly defines what is"Chinese Mongolian theme film"in terms of geographic range, cultural standard and subject choosing, based on the definition of minority film made by Pro. Wang Zhiming, pointing out that the main concern of the thesis is Chinese Mongolian theme films. And then the author cards retrospectively on the creative groups of Han and Mongolian nationality directors from initial, development, peak and initiative stages, to understand the differences and further find the development paths in order to promote the development of Chinese Mongolian theme films. The second chapter points out that Chinese Mongolian theme films pay more attention to the realistic individuals, uneasiness and anxieties of Mongolian nationality resulted from the living environmental changes in urbanization. The universal Mongolian nationality anxieties originate from the space anxieties, reflecting on not knowing where to go after losing grassland, yurts and horses, meanwhile the cameras are becoming more confused on how to grasp the national characteristics with the changing space environment. By demonstrating the dialectical relationship between homogeneity and heterogeneity, this part tells how the Mongolian theme films should better understand homogeneity and heterogeneity. And the heterogeneous national characteristics are embodied more on internal national culture and memory except for the external image of grassland and horses, etc. The third chapter further analyzes the dialectical relationship between homogeneity and heterogeneity reflected in Mongolian theme films, i.e. the call for ethnic and national identity in individual films. The ethnic identity mainly originates from the native common ethnic memory, while national identity originates from the universal emotions and values of the whole Chinese nation and human beings. This chapter also concludes the possibilities of enriching Chinese Mongolian theme films by utilizing the successful experience of the other minority film creation.,then in this part mentions the American Hollywood film creation, in which the national identity is fully manifested. Therefore, based on the careful analysis of some problems on monotonic type, low impact and difficulties to deal with the relationship between homogeneity and heterogeneity, this thesis, by utilizing the successful mode of national identity in Hollywood American western films, further demonstrates the development trend and future paths of Mongolian theme films which should have bright national characteristics, express human universal emotions, explore new creative space and cultivate national excellent film review teams. The last part mainly points out that in modernization, the Mongolian nationality, as well as the whole Chinese nation is faced with the"home"confusion. All ethnic and national groups should have a positive attitude toward it. Excepting for the concern about confusion and perplexity, films are responsible for providing a spiritual home for human souls.
