The opera'Regret for the Past'was created in the 80's of the last century by Mr. Guangnan Shi to honor Mr. Xun Lu, one of the greastest writer in China, for his 100th anniversary. As one of the representive opera works in the contemporary era China, the'Regret for the Past'exhibited its revolutionary significance. Being an exploration tentation, this national China opera was displayed by the represention means same as that of western opera. In this paper, we describes the comparison of the opera'regret for the past'with the original novel of the same name by Xun Lu to discover the structural consistency of both two, and on the premise of the total construction, to focus on the music analysis and its artistic style exploration for the three overture songs, the three aria songs'Violet Rattan Flowers', with the Chinese name'Zi-Teng-Hua', especially the three aria songs by Zi-Jun'A Light of Sunset','Bleak Autumn Wind'and'Unfortunately in Life'. Based on the total analysis and discussion, we drawn a conclusion that the opera is a sublimation for the novel.
