Li Shixiang,a composer active in the Inside Mongolian Grassland,has written a quantity of instrumental and vocal music,and has received various state-level and region-level awards.His work "Piano Suites of Mongolian Style",which I will discuss in my paper,conducts an active and effective exploration of composing techniques like tones,harmonies, polyphonies and music forms as well as of thoughts of unique expression embodying Mongolian music.My paper primarily aims at its second suite "Glimpses of Nadam Fair for Youth" and the fourth one "Three Scenes of Grassland Customs",both of which are based on Mongolian folklore.I make a deep analysis of these suites attempting to explore the embodiment and interpretation of Mongolian customs and practices in Li's works,and further,the Chinese verve of some piano works.My paper consists three chapters,the first one gives an introduction of Li and his piano suites.The second chapter presents the embodiment and interpretation of Mongolian customs and practices in Li' s suites.In this chapter,besides the introduction of relevant customs,I give an analysis of the music forms and harmony writing of the second and the fourth suites as thoroughly as possible.Chapter 3 would discuss the teaching significance of Li' s Suites and key points of its performance.
