In this paper, the writer takes Mussorgsky's three most representative creations, which are different in genre, as the researching targets, including piano suite Pictures at an Exhibition, symphonic poem Night of barren hills and the opera Boris Godunov. While making an concrete analysis of those works'whole structures and local features, the writer separately discusses the characteristic of both mode and tonality being used, and focuses on the following aspects, including Mussorgsky's music languages which are nationalized and personalized, the innovative harmony techniques, plus both of the music languages and harmony phrases,which serve the purposes of the images-shaping and depiction.
