Hebert Marcuse pointed out that the prosperity showed in the developed capitalist society was false and serious alienation took place inside the society. The alienation was showed not only in the society itself, but was reflected in the areas of science and technology, modern philosophy, and popular culture as well. The capitalist society itself has turned into a one-dimensionac society, which was apparently affluent but was in fact ill-conditioned bellow the surface. In the process of this alienation, both the society and human being have been alienated. Human beings have become one-dimensioned when they have lost the intrinsical ability to criticize and negate things during the alienation. Facing with such an alienated society, Hebert Marcuse believed that the way out lied on the reconstruction of Utopia.
