Tourism Text English Translation From The Perspective Of The Functionalist Translation Theory

It's still a relatively new field in the research of Chinese tourist text translation from the perspective of translation functionalist theory. The previous study of the Chinese tourist text mainly dealt with the cross-cultural comparison and contrast on the linguistic level instead of the theoretical perspective, and a thorough study of a particular tourist attraction is rarely seen.This research paper bases on the functionalist translation theory "The purpose is the principle during the translation process." (Zhang, 2004). It gives an analysis of the Chinese tourist text translation of Shenyang Imperial Palace from the perspective of functionalist theory in translation to see if the translation is in line with the purpose of the source text or loyal to it. At last, some suggestions are given to the ways of Chinese tourist text translation.The study of functionalist translation theory at home and abroad has been summed up in the paper. And the good methods in translation have been concluded and some questioned translation text has been discussed in the following chapters.This research paper gives a conclusion of the methods of tourist text translation and suggestions from the functionalist translation theory. With the contrast between English and Chinese tourist text and the functionalist translation theory, it analyzes the examples of different translation methods in translation to identify the problems in the translation at present. The case analysis also helps to find out the cause of the problem and the solution to the problem.
