A Report On Chinese-English Translation Of Tourist Texts From The Perspective Of Functional Equivalence

With multiple functions,various sentence structures and complex wording,tourist text translation has always been of great importance and difficulty in Chinese-English(C-E)translation.In recent years,due to the rapid development of China's tourist industry and western tourists' increasing enthusiasm about China's natural scenery and culture,more and more translators and scholars have started to dedicate time and energy to the study of the C-E translation of tourist texts,striving to find a suitable theory to guide tourist text translation and appropriate strategies for translation practice.This report is written on the basis of the tourist texts translated by the author under the guidance of Nida's Functional Equivalence theory(FE theory).The report describes the translation process and shows how the FE theory guides the author to deal with the problems and difficulties met in the translation process.The report has six chapters.In the first chapter,the author describes the translation task and the translation process briefly.In Chapter Two,the author provides some basic information about tourist text and tourist text translation.In Chapter Three,the author introduces the FE theory,including the development of the theory and the translation theory under the guidance of the FE theory.The feasibility of applying the theory to the translation of tourist texts is also discussed in this part.In Chapter Four,under the guidance of the FE theory,the author analyzes the translation of the material from lexical level,sentential level and textual level respectively.Chapter Five is the reflection of the whole translation process in which the major findings in the process of accomplishing the translation task are summarized.The last part is the conclusion of the report.
