Gu Sui Literary Thought

Mr.Gusui(1897-1960) is also known as Ji xian,Ku shui and Tuo an. In recent years, Gusui has got more and more concerns of people. In 2000, "The Collection of Gusui's work" was published by Hebei Educational Publishing House. According to the class notes, the "Tuo an Poetry", "Essay on Poetry" ,"Taibai Ancient Poems body", and etc were organized by his disciples, containing a wealth of literary and artistic thought,which has a profound influence on younger generations. However, the comprehensive and systematic study of academic results have not been seen yet.The further study on Gusui's literature and art can rich history of academic art theory,and will be of great significance to the contemporary literary theory.The thesis is divided into the following sections:Introduction part cares about grooming the recent research of Gusui.Gusui research, rising from the 80s last century, hasn't been declining . The achievements of the research focused mainly on four aspects: research on his life experience,personality ,writing styles and writing comments.The first part, "sound poetry". Mr.Gusui claims to write "sound poetry." First, good poems let us see the real world and the soul of it. Second, about language, which should be flexible,must be also crafted and seem like proses but real poems. It should not be seen to have cut and polished marks. Third, Literature works must have thoughts, which can make readers enjoy their reading. But the poems must be penetrated through the feelings that can stop thoughts from getting dry. Mr.Gusi claims that good literature works should be full of passion.The second part, "normal" poet, deals with the main concept of doing creative research. "Sound poetry" are written by the "normal" poets. "Normal"poets has the following features. First, to sorrow but not sad. He proposed that all the poems in the poetry history were written in helpless situations. "Normal"poets should have deep sorrow, but not shallow sadness; the former coming from the love and hate, is real"me", while the latter one stems from a feeling that it is"myself". Second, to "jump into the real life." Lot of traditional Chinese poets can't write great works, because they are afraid to enter the life. Wang Wei,Meng Haoran and other poets are never expected to catch up with Tao Yuanming's lyrics.The reason is that he can be close to the real life." Jumping into the life, a writer can feel the contradictions of life and can realize his own little ,so that he can write meaningful and powerful works. Third, poets must be in good health and neurological, both are indispensable.Traditional Chinese poets'success lies in conscious neural; and as the good health is concerned, many traditional Chinese poets are sick. Unhealthy physical body will lead to unhealthy psychological. Poets who both have physical and psychological health can write sound poems.The third part, "No troops to die," focuses on the methodology of Gusui's literary research. The study of literature and art of Gusui embodies the spirit of the dialectic. This is reflected in two aspects. First,the spirit of the dialectic is through his comments.He always gives proper and dialectic comments no matter the poets are famous or not.He praised LiBai's imagination, but also criticized his lack of particulars; he praised DuFu's going in for real life, but criticized his roughness. Gusui is not only a famous poet but also a famous essayist.He gives his comments from his feelings and his experiences of his literature creations. Second, Mr.Gusi criticizes the poems with the spirit of the dialectic.He claims that the poems must avoid repetition, but"LiSao"is good at its repetition. Particulars and magnificence are not opposite to each other in writing poems. The methodology of Gusui's literary research is formed because of two reasons: one is connected with his accomplishment in Chinese and western literature. His experience of majoring in Western literature in Peking University helped him open up his eyeshot and jump out of the traditional Chinese literature; the other reason is that his thoughts was affected by the Buddha, especially the Zen. The ideas of predestined relationship and insistence in Buddha are often applied in Gusui's Literary research naturally.Conclusion of the thesis focuses on the inspirations of Mr.Gusui's literary thoughts. Mr.Gusui's ideas, as the core of literature and art, can be summarized that "Normal" poets write "sound poems".Based on this, he criticizes the Chinese poems are too beautiful and too weak without any "hate", which can only frame the"bed"and can't help reform actively. His views have very strong theoretical significance.
