Charles Pierre Baudelaire(1821-1867) is a pioneer in the French modernist poetry, the originator of literary symbolism,but also an excellent poet who concerned about urban life.Most of the studies of Baudelaire pay close attention to the symbolism literary thought,modernist way of artistic expression and the expos(?) of capitalism Evil and the pursuit of capitalism Beauty all the time,but Baudelaire's thinking and experience about Paris modern Urban Landscape have been ignored.A Lyric Poet in the Era of High Capitalism,an important work of late Benjamin,analysis Baudelaire and the Urban Landscape in his works.In this book,from the eyes of a lyric poet who has been alienated by the capitalist world of goods,Benjamin reinterpreted the 19th century capitalism in the early industrial revolution of the urban landscape of Paris.This paper is divided into two parts,taking Benjamin study about Baudelaire's Urban Landscape in his poetry as the breakthrough point.The first part major in sorting out Urban Landscape in Baudelaire's poetry,and group them into four categories:characters,space places,commodity images and commercial activities. Characters are the most important part of urban landscape,people living in and consumption in urban place;Urban place is the carrier of people and goods,and commercial activities act in the urban place;Commodities play a lead role in commercial activities,and people maneuver around transaction;Commercial activities throughout all aspects of life in cities,and bring about an atmosphere which penetrate into people,places and commodities,so that the four urban landscape merged together.The second part bases on Benjamin's work A Lyric Poet in the Era of High Capitalism, discussing the modern sense of exploring urban landscape in Baudelaire's poetry.In the level of political economy,Benjamin analyzes the class nature of urban populations and the general tendency of commodity fetishism;In the level of aesthetic,he saw a mind of modern city in the complex Urban Landscape-shocking,and summed it up as a human-specific psychological mechanism in modern society;In the level of modernity,it reflects that the author consistent with the characteristics of modernity,such as perceptual, novelty,historic.Finally,make comments on Urban Landscape in Baudelaire's poetry and the modern significance in the conclusion part.
