Classic Was Born

This thesis tries to do some kind of a book history of the Montaillou,Village Oecitan de 1294(?) 1324,which is an opus magnum of the French historian Emmanuel Le Roy Ladurie.Firstly,Montaillou is naturally born of the academic development of Le Roy Ladurie.It is rooted in the tradition of Annales school and transcends it in many dimensions.Secondly,this book has received lots of reviews from academic readers,among which the critical one written by Renato Rosaldo the anthropologist needs a careful reexamination.Thirdly,Montaillou has become a best-seller and gained a great influence in the pulic.This phenomenon is resulted from the particular social context during the time around its publication.The three aspects above will show the many intensions embedded in the book and derived from it.Under theses intensions,Montaillou became an ironist historical work.
