Denis Fonvizin's satirical comedy is the summit in Russian drama of late 18th century, and his Brigadir (1766)and The Minor(1781), which set a basis for the development of realism in Russia, have been placing an important role in the history of Russian literature. Fonvizin's satirical comedy refers to education, political regime and social life, etc. presenting the condition and situation of Russia at that time, which plays a significant role in later people's understanding of the era. In addition, Fonvizin shaped a series of vivid images, adding the images of greedy landlady and faithful woman servants to Russian literature, and offering as reference a great number of images for later authors. In The Minor, Fonvizin refuses the way of translating or modeling on exotic works, breaks the limitation of classicism. With humorous, playful but sharp language, Fonvizin's works present interesting pictures of social life, which are worthy of reading and reading.
