Framing analysis on news reporting tragets written news coverages. Few thorough and detailed researches focuses on news photography, which is another vital type of news reporting. News photograhes aim to record the real world through cameras that photographers use, most of whom are professional photographers and photo-reporters. The pictures they take would not represent the truth or the whole truth. When shooting photos and reporting the news, news reporters should meet the guidance and interests set up by their media. To design the frames and create the centain context, photographers choose which realities could enter into the camera lens, and decide how those"realities"are being presented. Based on framing theory and framing analysis, and using the content analysis method, this paper aims to make a comparison on frames that news photographes comprise of between Chinese and Western media. It explains how the selection and gate-keeping function is operating in the field of news photography. Photo reporters can make the pictures partially shot, adjust phtography skills and a semiology way to build-up frames. The"invisible concept"behind the news pictures, the journalsitic routines, the professiliam, the national interests and international relations, the ideology and the cutural background and values they hold, all these would have a great impact on how the pictures representing the real wold.
