A Report On The Translation Of The Social News From Huanqiu Website

With the advancement of globalization,news dissemination is playing an increasingly important role.With the richness and completeness of websites information,a lot of foreign news trans-editing work has arisen and received attention.Huanqiu Website is a large bilingual news website with press rights,mainly providing the service of international news and information.Entrusted by the Social Information Column of Huanqiu Website,the translator has trans-edited the English news selected from the Daily Mail and Mirror to promote its spreading and compiled this practice report based on the text.The translating practice is English to Chinese translation.The selected news mainly introduces society,culture and daily life of different countries,belonging to soft news.The language of the original news is vivid.There are many new words,midget,nonce words and rich rhetorical devices in the text.The present tense and the past tense and passive voice are extensively applied.With long passage and unique style,every piece of news has the function of conveying information and arousing readers' reading interests.Based on the features of the text,the theory of framing narratives proposed by the famous scholar Mona Baker expounds how to construct the language from the perspective of narration in the process of translation to achieve the spread of the translation text among countries,which proved the translation needn't be confined to the perspective of text comparison and translation equivalence,so the framing narrative theory is highly valued in news translation.Therefore,the translator has chosen four translation strategies of framing narrative theory : Temporal and Spatial Framing,Selective Appropriation of Textual Material,Framing by Labeling,Repositioning of Participants and the translator has taken them as theoretical guidance for the news trans-editing work selected from Social Information Column of Huanqiu Website.From the four levels,source work and the translation version will be analyzed in this report to prove the theory can be applied in the news translation and under the guidance of this theory,the effect of news can be strengthened,culture words can be supplemented and readers' interests can be raised.The report consists of four chapters.The first chapter is an introduction about the translation task,including the background,the features of text and the requirements of the client.The second chapter gives an overview of the translation process,including translation implementation and analysis on the applicability of framing theory.Thethird chapter is the case analysis,a core part of the report,making a specific analysis on the translation process from the perspectives of adaptation of context and adaptation of linguistic level.The forth chapter is a summary of the author's experience,which concludes the limits and deficiencies of this practice report and acquisition.Under the guide of framing narratives theory,this report has analyzed the applicability of this theory in translation practice of news texts in detail,and summarized the disadvantages and limitation in order to obtain the experiences and inspirations.
