Mental health is a positive and sustained social status. Individual career, personality and life of different backgrounds can form a different mental health conditions. Military academies,the cradle and bases of training high-quality new military personnel for the future , play important role in training military academy students in their psychological quality. Beside the training of military academy students in the ideological ,ethical , scientific and cultural quality, more attentions should also be focused on the education and research of the students in psychological aspect in the same time.Aim: This study has a very important theoretical and practical significance. First, get to understand the current state of mental health of the military academy students in general through the investigation of their mental health status, personality characteristics and styles to cope with, and compare them between different gender, grade, the only child of family in these aspects. Second, to analyse the main reason for this situation and related factors. Impacts of environmental factors, biological factors, mental state and other factors on mental health status were analysed. On the other hand measures were suggested to solve all kinds of problems, including prevention improvement and adjustment, and control the development of adverse factors, furthermore to provide empirical and theoretical bases for the improvement of the mental health quality of military college students and enhance long-term mechanism for the improvement of the quality of the army. The third, through the correlative analysis of the personality of different military academy students, in the view of mental health, our study is trying to find the suitable personality characteristics for studying in military academy and provide theoretical basis for the selection of students entering military academy in the future. The fourth, with the correlative analysis of the coping way in the military academy students, our study is trying to understand their styles to cope with the situation when faced with frustration and analysis of its causes, aware of their source of psychological pressure, thus propose a feasibility proposal, give support and understanding in all aspects for their learning, as well, aim at improving their ability to cope with the psychological situation and affordability to ensure the military mental health of college students.Method: The SCL-90 was used in this study. Qatar 16 pf personality questionnaire and coping style questionnaire were tested. We compare them between different gender, grade, the only child of family in these aspects. Second, we analyse the main reason for this situation and related factors. Impacts of environmental factors, biological factors, mental state and other factors on mental health status were analysed.Object: We draw 2000 military academy students random from military college of northwest China to answer the questionnaires. After the investigation, we had made 1987 utility questionnaires, including 1247 male, which accounted for 62.7%of the total, and 740 female, which accounted for 37.3%of the total. 739 low grade students, which accounted for 49.9% of the total, and 1194 high grade students, which accounted for 60.1% of the total. 1137 Only child students, which accounted for 57.7% of the total, and 850 non-only-child students, which accounted for 43.3% of the total. 499 medical science students, which accounted for 25.1% of the total, and 137 management students, which accounted for 26.7% of the total, and 530 literature students, which accounted for 24.9% of the total, and 463 technology students, which accounted for 23.3% of the total.Result: We to make a result after all questionnaire were analyzed with computer .(1) Following conclusions were got: The SCL-90 scores of the military academy students were significantly higher than the military norm in sensitive, anxious, phobo factors(p <0.01);The interpersonal sensitive factor score of the military academy students was higher than that of the military norm (p <0.01), which showed that mental health of college students was better than the normal.(2) There were some differences in each factor between gender, grade, family background, specialty of military academy students Male military academy students scored significantly higher in hostilities factor and phobo factor than that of female military academy students (p <0.01, p <0.05). Except for depression and hostility factors, military school students of low grades scored higher than that of high grade students in the rest factors. Significant difference occurred between only child and non-only child military academy students in the anxiety, phobo, paranoia factors (p <0.01), the psychological symptoms of non-only-child in anxiety, phobo and paranoia were significant than that of the only child students. The professional body of factors was different between military academy students from different school, (p <0.05), however, the difference of the rest factors was not significant. (3) When compared the 16 PF score of the military college students with China's adult norm, except for the excitatory -F, sensitivity-1, experimental -Q1 and Q4 of tension, significant differences were got in the rest aspect of the personality between China's military academy students and normal adults, China's military academy students showed the characteristic of friendly, intelligence, stability, independence and brave, but also anxious.(4) When compared the 16 PF score of the military students from different, colleges, except for the stability, no significant different appeared in the rest aspect of the personality. 16 PF score of the military students from different grades was not different significantly, with the exception in excitatory-F and secondary personality traits to anxiety .High-grade military academy students showed lower excitement than those low-grades. Significant differences occurred in the 16 PF score of the only child military academy students in the aspect of sophisticated-N, experimental-Q1 (p <0.05). No significant, different 16 PF score was got between military academy students of different specialty (5) Coping style scale was used to compare way to cope with situations between the military college students and military officers norm. Significant different scores could be observed in all the factors of coping style (p <0.01). Military college students more frequently use problem-solving approach to cope with than military officers. Military academy students adopted more frequently approach of asking for help, self-blame and rationalization to cope with. Military male students adopted more frequently approach of self-blame however military female students adopted more frequently approach of rationalization when compared with each other. High-grade military students used more frequently approach of rationalization than low-grade students. Only-child military academy female students more frequently adopted problem-solving approach to cope with, however non-only-child military academy female students often used the method of asking for help and fantasy to meet requests. Military literature majors adopted more frequently the way of rationalization than military academy students of other majors. (6) In our correlative analysis, It was concluded that the psychological symptoms and adverse personality showed positive correlation to negative coping style, but negatively correlated to the good personality and active coping style. Bad personality traits were positively correlated with negative coping style and good personality were positively correlated with active coping style. We set super score of symptom checklist of military academy students as dependent variable , set their every factor score of coping style and 16pf personality questionnaire as independent variable to make gradual regressive analysis . the consequence means main excitability have 7 factors: to work out a solution, stability, persistence, excitability do negativity influent to symptom, and tonicity, self-reproach, eager to do well, do positive influent to symptom. According to absolute value to line up, the effect are tonicity, to work out a solution, stability, tonicity, psych-health, self-reproach, intro-extro version, persistence, excitability, eager to do well in order.Conclusion: We to make a conclusion after result and analysis. (1) Mental health of military academy students were worse than the normal. Their characteristic were friendly, intelligence, stability, independence and brave, but also anxious. Their coping style were positive. (2) Mental health of male students was better 1 than the female. Their characteristic were stability, but Their coping style were passive.. Mental health of high grade students were better than the low grade students. Their characteristic were stability , and their coping style were positive. Mental health of Only child students were better than the non-Only- child students. Their characteristic were both sophisticated and tension, and their coping style were positive. Mental health of management students were better than other subject students. Their characteristic were no significant difference. The coping style of Iiteraturer students were positive. (3) The psychological symptoms and adverse personality showed positive correlation to negative coping style, but negatively correlated to the good personality and active coping style, the analysis of regression path main excitability have 7 factors: to work out a solution, stability, persistence, excitability do negativity influent to symptom, and tonicity, self-reproach, eager to do well, do positive influent to symptom.The shortcoming of the paper were : (1) The varianceit should be analyzed according to the tetrakis-grade of military college students, then, there would be more clear-cut when we analyzed their mental health level. (2) We should analyzed according to more regression path and equations model of construction, then, the result would have more persuasion.
