The Relationship Among Self-supporting Personality ,coping Style And Mental Health Of Middle School Students

Self-supporting personality is an important component in the complicated systems of personality ,it is the process that individuals get rid of the things previously relied on, to act, decide, judge independently and take responsibility for their commitments and activities. Despite its important implications for people's social activities, the main focus of systematic researches is its innate structure in the last few years. Few empirical studies on its social adaptive functions have been reported up to now. The aim of the current thesis is to explore the relationship among self-supporting personality ,coping style and mental health.Using"Young students self-support personality scale"made up by Doctor Xia Lingxiang, Simple coping style scale,and Middle School Mental Health Scale,we investigated 880 middle school students to explore the characteristics of middle school students'self-supporting personality and the relationship among self-supporting personality ,coping style and mental health through descriptive statistics,correlation and regression analysis.Main conclusions of the research are as following:(1) The Self-supporting Personality of middle school students is significantly different among the gender,grades and subjects, between the only-child students and the others,between the urban students and the rural students,between the students who have had the class-cadre experience and the others.(2) Middle school students of different self-supporting personality have significant differences in the coping style and mental symptoms.Self-supporting personality has significant correlation with the coping style and mental symptoms.Self-supporting personality has positve correlation with the positive coping style ,but negative correlation with the negative copoing style .Most dimensions of Self-supporting Personality Scale have negative correlations with mental symptoms.(3) Many dimensions of Self-supporting Personality can forecast Coping Style and Mental Symptoms.
