There are dozen of annotated editions of Li He's poems in history,but none of them has attracted enough attention and got enough research. Even the best one, The Variorum of Li Changji's Poems, written by Wang Qi, is either of no exception, which was paid little attention,and research of which is close to zero.By the methods of Chinese Exegetics,the thesis tries to analyze The Variorum of Li Changji's Poems, systematically and thoroughly,and conclude the achievements and disadvantages of Wang Qi. It consists of three main parts, the introduction,the text and the conclusion.In the introductory part, we discuss the studying significance of The Variorum of Li Changji's Poems, the studying situation at home and abroad, the life of Wang Qi and the brief introducition of the book.The text mainly presents the meticulous and thorough analysis on the annotating contents of The Variorum of Li Changji's Poems.Conciseness and comprehensive contents characterize the annotations of Wang Qi,which included the collation,the annotation (including phonetic notations and the analysis of the forms of characters ),the transaltion and explanations of verses,the explanations of the peom titles,the illustrations of applications in grammars and rhetorics, and the artistic appreciation:1.the collation: The Variorum of Li Changji's Poems was well collated and the characters kept untouched.2.the annotation of words:With the best help of the previous achievement of annotations, Wang Qi annotated the words flexibly in their own contexts,sometimes he gave them double annotations.Moreover,he gave characters the phonetic notations with characters of the same pronunciations and analized the forms of somes characters to help understand the poems3. the transaltion and explanations of verses:in view of the characteristics of verses,different translating and explaining methods were adopted. His translation is smooth and beautiful;and Wang Qi frequently quoted poems and essays with the same meaning as the verses annotated, which made his translation very vivid.4.the explanations of the peom titles: It includes clarifying the difficult words, summarizing the general ideas and indicating the creating motivation. As to the titles of Yuefu poems,Wang Qi not only indicated their stories,but also made comparisons with the original poems to help better understand.5. the illustrations of applications in grammars and rhetorics: Wang Qi illustrated all kinds of applications of grammars and rhetorisc in Li He's peoms ,so readers could make a better understanding.6. the artistic appreciation: Wang Qi guided readers how to appreciate Li He's peoms by pointing out how his peoms to be written, his comments of which were fitting and wonderful.The last part of thesis sums up the achievements Wang Qi had made as a whole,meanwhile,it also points out the disadvantages in his work such as missing annotations,the errors of annotation, cumbersome quotations, no convincing provenance and confused terms, which could have no affect on his remarkable work of annotation. Finally, it demonstrates that the achievements of Wang Qi not olny had greatly affected the variorum editions of Li He's poems after him, but also are of great value to us today for annotating and studying Li He's poems and other ancient poem and essays. His mistakes in annotating also can teach us a good lesson and help us promote.
