Huozhou city lies in the middle southern part of Shanxi,the boundary of the Linfen and Jinzhong basin.It is dominated by Linfen.The thesis gives a full research on the author's mother tongue,the huozhou dialect.A general description of the dialect's phonetic system about the initials,finals and tones have been gotten from my fieldwork.The dialect's internal difference between literal and colloquial reading and also the layers,sandhi and diminutive sandhi in the phonology have been reseached from this description.In addition,the corresponding law of the Huozhou dialect and mediaeval dialect have been concluded from the diachronic comparison about the Huozhou dialect and mediaeval dialect in order to give a further understanding to the Huozhou dialect's development.The thesis formed by five parts:In the part one,the situation and the development about Huozhou city have been introduced,the Huozhou dialect's ascription and the reseach development have been shown.In the part two,the Phonological system of Huozhou dialect have been described, including 25 initials(include zero initial),33 finals,5 tones.A syllabary have been built from this system,continuous reading sandhi between the two words have been described,the sandhi type and law have been concluded.In part three,the Homonyms according to the<syllabary on a survey of the dialect>have been made,and also some local words in the common use have been renewn.In part four,a comparison between the Huozhou dialect and《广韵》system have been given,in order to find out the historical source and changing rules.In part five the difference between literal and colloquial reading,and the diminutive sandhi in Huozhou dialect have been discussed.
