As an important faction of cultural conservatism in the 20-30's of the 20th Century in China.The XueHeng School,flourished the essence of the Chinese traditional culture while combining with some new ingredients from other cultures,introduced the western thought "New Humanism", carried out series of educational events,and conceived unique cultural pursuit and psychological experience. So, it has played certain role in Chinese modern ideological and cultural history. Academic world has been studying it from different sides and has gained quite a lot of results.The main research subject of this paper is the New Humanism that The XueHeng School introduced and explained. It briefly analyzes the historical background and the formation of the XueHeng School as a group and moves the XueHeng School's thoughts into the complex social context to do more deep-rooted reconsideration,then brings in the new theoretical perspective of "modernity". Like this, it not only promotes to more clearly understand the ideological substance of the XueHeng School as well as its historical role and historical value at The New Culture Movement, but also provides current new culture construction during the transition period with some profound inspiration and useful lessons.The paper mainly divides into the following sections:The first chapter: summing up the results of previous studies, discussing the background of choosing the topic, expounding and re-recognizing the concept relate to the study, explaining the significance and the innovation of choosing the topic, listing research framework of the paper.The second chapter: showing the historical background of the XueHeng School and introducing basic situation of the XueHeng School's thoughts.The third chapter: analyzing the subtle relationship between the New Humanism theory founded by Irving Babbitt and that introduced by the XueHeng School,recognizing the XueHeng School's efforts to build new culture.The fourth chapter: discussing ideological sequence of "modernity" theory.bringing the XueHeng School's thoughts in the theoretical vision of'modernity", focusing on analyzing modernity show of the XueHeng School's thoughts from two aspects of enlightenment thought and cultural aesthet. revealing modernity aspect of the XueHeng School's thoughts. The fifth chapter: comparatively analyzing the similarities and differences between the XueHeng School and the new cultural advocates, discussing how the XueHeng School participated in modernity construction of Chinese ideological and cultural discourse in the overall different way of thinking and thought system from The New Culture Movement at the late of the 10's of the 20th Century, displaying the same positive efforts with the new cultural advocates which it has made for the common goal of reasonable Chinese new culture construction.Conclusion: summarizing the conclusions of this paper and pointing out practical significance of the XueHeng School's thoughts research.
