Tang Shisheng, Lou Jian, Cheng Jiasui and Li Liufang were called "Four Literators of Jiading" in the Late Ming Dynasty. In the first year of the reign of Chong Zhen (A.D.1628) in Ming Dynasty, Xie Sanbin, who was the county magistrate of Jiading County in Suzhou prefecture, engraved the poems and essays of Tang Shisheng, Lou Jian, Cheng Jiasui and Li Liufang together. It was called Collection of Four Literators of Jiading. The name of "Four Literators of Jiading" root in this and it was also called "Four Gentlemen of Jiading". Among them the native place of Tang Shisheng, Lou Jian and Li Liufang was Jiading County. But Cheng Jiasui was in She county in Huizhou prefecture. He immigrated to Jiading County and lived there for nearly 50 years and was naturalized here. Four Literators were lived in home village. They were all good at Poems and Essays, handwriting and painting and drawing. All of them did not seek fame and wealth and were pure and simple and otherworldly. They got along well and held each other in great esteem. There was much coincidence in their literary thoughts. They were called "The Last Poetry School in the Late Ming Dynasty".The author of this paper carries on overall survey and study on "Four Literators of Jiading" in detail on the basis of the achievement of research before after reading a great deal of collection of poems and essays and relative literature data of Four Literators. In addition to the chapter of introduction, this paper is divided into four chapters. In Chapter 1 the geographical environment and the humanistic environment of "Four Literators of Jiading" are summarized and analyzed. In Chapter 2 the family extraction, life and companionship of Four Literators are reviewed respectively. In Chapter 3 poetic creation of Four Literators is introduced and appreciated. Their literary thoughts are generalized as: honoring Confucian classics and studying ancient prose, opposing emulation and cribbing, claiming to express true feelings, honoring patriarchal clan system of Tang Dynasty and Song Dynasty. In Chapter 4 the influence of "Four Literators of Jiading" is commented on. It is discussed the great influence of Four Literators on Qian Qianyi, who was the suzerain of literary world in the Late Ming and Early Qing Dynasty and the profound influence of Four Literators on the scholar style of honoring ancient prose and tempering moral integrity in Jiading county.Because the predecessors have already had chronology of "Four Literators of Jiading", there are no "life tables" of them in this paper.
