Zhou Sicong was a very unique figure in Chinese female art history. Among the literati painting history and theories of painting, the enormous artistic accomplishments she achieved were described as a record that had never been approached and would never be approached again. The statements and the determination towards her broke the narrative model which traditional art history adopted to evaluate the female artists. Perusing the painting history, since the 20th century the socail shifts and the changes of art tradition have all been the internal conditions of this transformation. Especially, that the foundation of New China promoted a batch of artists such as Zhou Sicong into a new arena of history, and these artists reached their artistic summit using their own talent.Based on the case of Zhou Sicong, this article analyzes her art path by the means of induction and comparison, which includes the interactive relation among her and several main social streams such as ink realistic tradition, modernism and literati impresionistic manner. Among this sort of interactive process, the epochal character, personality and art specificity that Zhou Sicong possessed are displayed. These above are the partial contents of the first three parts of this article. The fourth chapter maily represents the artistic uniqueness of Zhou Sicong being as a female artist, hence it gives us a hint to discuss about female art later. The last chapter and the conclusion are focusing on that how Zhou Sicong as a female entered into modern art history-how she became such a distinguished female artist and the referential significance she has to the modern times.
