The evolution of Japan's East Asian (EA) strategy has been the dominant theme of its development in modern foreign relationship. So far in Japan, dealing with Asian affairs is potentially constrained by its strategic model of the historical heritage of EA relationship. So based on experts'research, this paper sorts out the details of strategy process, explores the evolution in real terms, sums up the evolution features, comprehensively and systematically analysis the formation of Japan's EA strategy underlying causes.First of all, this paper discusses the formation of Japan's EA strategy and initial implementation. Two periods:(1) Meiji period (1968-1910), Japan's EA strategy was basically formed around Sino-Japanese War and Russo-Japanese War. (2) Around the First World War (1911-1930) the initial period, the symbol are:Japan's expansion in China of "dominant position" and the Tanaka Cabinet came to power in 1927 and established policy especially "Manchuria and Mongolia separation" policy Japan's EA Strategy was initially implemented.Second, this paper discusses the implementation of strategy and its collapse in Sino-Japanese War of fifteen years. Three periods:(1) 918 to the Marco Polo Bridge Incident: the period of Japan's EA strategy's evolution (1931-1936),918 Incident was a beginning of full implementation of Japan's EA strategy, and starts fifteen years of war. It is a new stage of evolution of EA strategy and period of full-scale invasion transition. (2) Marco Polo Bridge Incident to outbreak of World Warâ…¡, EA strategy entered the full-scale invasion phase (1937-1939), centered with Konoe Cabinet policy establishment and changes of implementation. (3) "Greater EA Co-Prosperity Sphere" and the collapse (1940-1945), focusing on analysis of new policy toward China and the truth of "Greater EA New Order".Third, this paper sums up the essence and characteristics of evolution of modern Japan's EA strategy of. It shows the evolution of Japan-led "new" order, the process of being hegemony. And reflects six characteristics:the expansion of force, Europe and the American strategic police on speculative, strong sense of bully neighbors, adventure and opportunism, Eurocentric and anti-Eurocentric.Finally, this paper analyzes the causes of Japan's EA strategy, The external factors include incomplete international regulatory mechanism and Western domination theory impact on Japan; The internal factors include ancient concept of Kingdom include sense of power and Expansion of territory; island environment makes Japanese have strong sense of crisis,expansion,strong spirit of adventure and narrow sense of one country's prosperity; Japanese particularity of capitalist economic development is its foreign expansion drive force; Japan's warlike nature results in frenzy of being the leader of Asia by force.
