The Controversy between Han and Song is an important topic in the history of academic development of Qing dynasty. Sinology here refers to the Qian-Jia textual criticism; and Song Study here mainly refers to the Neo-Confucianism. They both belong to classical studies. But because of the differences between the principles and methods of scholarly research, from the date of the rise of Sinology, the contradiction between the two was already there. To the reign of Emperor Qianlong, Sinology reached at its peak but Song Study was forced to withdraw from the academic mainstream. So the two formed confrontation and became open in the period of Jiaqing and the early days of Daoguang. The Controversy between Han and Song also reached climax. In this debate, Tongcheng School who enshrined Neo-Confucianism played a main role. Tongcheng School scholars, particularly Yao door disciples who inherited their teachers'spirit competed with Sinology. In" the Controversy between Han and Song" had outstanding performance and gave a comprehensive as well as systematic and scathing criticism against Sinology. Tongcheng School of Sinology scholars criticised Song Study and meanwhile spared no effort to defend Song Study on Confucian Orthodoxy and the Neo-Confucian orthodoxy, to preserve the image of Neo-Confucianism, to try to promote the functions of Song Study, such as in the maintenance of social ethics, to defend the Neo-Confucian orthodoxy, to promote and expand the impact of the Neo-Confucianism in the community. In this regard, Fang Dongshu reached outstanding achievements. The publication of his book "Hanxue Shangdui" marked a reversal of the confrontation between Han and Song, and the academic pattern began to change. Through the extensively influencial debate, the strength of both growth and decline of the Han and Song underwent a turning point changes. The influence of Song Study recovered in a gradual pace in the academic community and society, expanded its living space,and returned to the mainstream from the edge. As a result, this controversy established the footstone that Song Study defeated the Sinology and walked toward the road of recovery in the Controversy between Han and Song. After the climax, the Tongcheng School scholars, when the reconciling of the Han and Song and concurrently collecting Sinology became a hot topic,, used Song Study as a base, and concurrently collected Sinology to revitalize Song Study from the perspective of the statecraft. These had undoubtedly contributed towards the revival of the Song Study. These undoubtedly affected the evolution of the academic trend extremely benefited to promote the revival of Song Study. It can say that in the Jia-Dao period, Tongcheng School of Science during the recovery process of Neo-Confucianism played an unneglected role, between whom Yao door disciples were the key elements to promote the regeneration of Science. This article hopes to,based on absorbing the existing research results, make full use of literature. The research perspective chooses the Controversy between the Han and Song as a breakthrough, and combined the academic history and social history as to grasp the academic in Jia-Dao period on the whole. Putting Tongcheng School in Jia-Dao period,such a special historical background to research, making effort to show the Tongcheng School particularly Yao door disciples'performances in the Controversy between Han and Song in this unique historical environment as well as the trend of their attitude, value orientation, aims at outlining Tongcheng School's use of the revival of Neo-Confucianism and its own development context; It hopes that, from the perspective of the Controversy between Han and Song, to recover Tongcheng School's connotation and reveals Tongcheng school's unique position and significance in the development process of Neo-Confucian in Jia-Dao period.
