Chinese figure painting came through the development of the peak in Tang Dynasty, the degree of importance were replaced by paintings of landscapes and paintings of flowers. Although there are also several well-known figure painting painter in Song Dynasty and Yuan Dynasty, but in the whole, the figure paintings had bing stagnant. Until the Ming Dynasty, the situation began to change, especially in the late Ming Dynasty, there has been a lot of excellent figure painter, Chen Hongshou is one of them.Chen Hongshou living in feudal China which faced serious political and economic crisis, political corruption, social unrest, internal and external problems of the era. In this period, with the process of the seeds of capitalism and business development, the urban quality of life and culture have made a significant development. The requirement of society promoted the art market's development, a large number of scholars involved in the transaction of works of art, which impetued the whole community to enhance education and artistic taste. In a sense, art is the reflection of the times, such as the case painting, which could not been affected by the background of that time. A painter, who select a performance object always intentionally or unintentionally associate with their own experiences, ideas, philosophy of life. As Chen Hongshou, since he lived in such a complex, contradictory social environment, which determined his understanding of the world with an unique side. This time let his thoughts and emotions expressed in his paintings,which is not only just a simple description of objective reality, but also with a strong personality. His work was dissolved in his subjective feelings of the exhibition and the times and his owned anguish, despair, frustration. His characterization was often taken a certain distance with the natural form. From the form of his characterization, there must be some stress and exaggeration which highlight the performance characteristics of the object and deliver his feelings. Therefore, Chen Hongshou's so-called grotesque form features were the result of the era. So, Chen Hongshou's weird characters and their Characters in the performance of the various features of emotional expression were came from the reality of the Ming Dynasty and Qing Dynasty and Chen Hongshou's personality traits, which was the main reason of the formation of his grotesque.Thus, Chen Hongshou's characterization weird was a refraction of the society changing among the Ming Dynasty and Qing Dynasty which were the real recognition and his sprit was likes his characters,." Therefore, his works show the spirit of carrying forward the ancient and establish their own style. It is not surprising with its lingering charm of caries fresh sharp, hard Clumsy mad defended the tolerance and the strength of character, standing Zoran against the social upheaval.The purpose of this article, is to research through Chen Hongshou who is the famous painter of the end of the Ming Dynasty and to analyze the background of art forms and performance techniques.At the same time, we try to analyze his work,aesthetic sense, their own psychological characteristics so as to analyze the variation of art form in Chen Hongshou's figure painting.
