The whole set of etudes have a strong progression and a great value of training practice, it shows the composer's unique and artful design of the etudes. As a flutist, Kohler was the flute player in the St Petersburg Ballet, and became the principle flute in 1900; as a composer, he wrote many outstanding etudes, solo, and chamber pieces for flute, and these compositions have become a portion of great valued repertoire in the present. Because of the career of flutist/composer, the compositions Kohler wrote contain highly technical demand and musical content, which require us to dig in carefully in our practice. His Op. 75, which I will discuss in this paper, is one of his best and outstanding output, and it has a strong influence for a flute student both in developing his/her technique and musical sense. There are three volumes in this set of etudes, each volume focuses on different techniques, and each volume is more technically demanded than the previous one. As an advanced set of etudes, Kohler's Op. 75 is worth to make a deep study and analysis, and certainly it will gain more and more attention in the academia for its great value.
