Barnes Novel View Of History

The dissertation analyze three novels of Julian Barnes who is a famous contemporary writer in England---Flaubert's Parrot, A History of the World in 101/2 Chapters,Authur & George separately. we can realize the different recognitions of the relationship between history and the truth, then realize the different standpoints of history. In Flaubert's Parrot, rough the pursuit of the parrot which was used by Flaubert,the pursuit of the famous writer Flaubert,the pursuit of Ama,the pursuit of leading hole in his novel, the pursuit of the relationship between the narrator and his wife,the author incident the doubts the relationship between the history and the truth. Then in A History of the World in 101/2 Chapters, through the means of paste-up, overturn, fragment, the author doubts of the power of history words and puzzles the truth of history, then deconstruct the truth of history. However,when it comes to Authur & George, the Barnes consciousness of history increase progressively and remove his own sounds off the novel,try his best to return history, the reader like can be personally on the scene. With the study, we can see the change of the standpoints of history during the past 20 years and know the background of the social and culture. At last, I hope we can see all the writers'views of history from the period of the postmodern time to now.
