Ting Bi Ji, also can be called Ting Ji or Bi Ji, is a kind of records of events inscribed or engraved in the walls of government official halls, which describes the establishment and historical origin of the government, and the installing, responsibility, transfer and achievement of officers, as well as the economy, geography, strategic location and custom of local place. The custom of inscribing Ting Bi Ji prevails for a time in Tang Dynasty both in the central organs and in local government officials.Ting Bi Ji in Tang Dynasty is written and engraved by Tang people, so it has historical value and is more original than the two Books of Tang in material nature that could be used in complement and testifying. At the moment academia has not researched systematically on Ting Bi Ji in terms of history yet, neither revealed the historical value of it. Therefore, the author selects the title "Ting Bi Ji and its historical value" and study Ting Bi Ji in Tang Dynasty and its value.This paper is divided into four parts, the detailed content is as follow:First part:introduction. Introduce the meaning of research and present situation at home and abroad. Mainly analyze and complement the research situation of Ting Bi Ji in current academia, furthermore to clarify the research purpose and method.Second part:Part 1---overview of Ting Bi Ji. This section introduces Ting Bi Ji in detail from two aspects---its meaning and authors. The former is mainly from its basic character, record circumstances, distribution case and writing ways. The latter is from the population character and writing ways. The authors of Ting Bi Ji usually are literators as well as officers, the mode of writing can fall into two sorts:written by himself and by others.Third part:Part 2---the historical value of Ting Bi Ji. This is the core part of the paper. Discuss the historical value of Ting Bi Ji from five aspects. First, The issues of building Gong Xie in Ting Bi Ji, which refer to the overall arrangement of Gong Xie, the labor, material and cost of construction, at the same time try to find out the concept of Gong Xie of Tang people. The second one is the public kitchen in counties. In Ting Bi Ji there describes the reason for building, origin, operation, food source organizational system and environment of the kitchen. The third aspect is officials. You can find the construction and responsibility of different officials such as You Jie Fu Shi, Dong Wei Qiao Ji Na Shi, Guan Yi Shi, Ya Fan Bo Shi and Jian Ji Shi, which could complement the local history. Fourth aspect is from economy, geography and custom. The content of Ting Bi Ji relates to the economy, geography and custom of counties and under counties, which is an important material for economic history and history of folk custom.Fourth part:a summery for the whole paper.
