The tradition of a nation is a relatively stable cultural organism, and it is also a structural formation that must be influenced by multi-cultures. It must interact with other cultures and evolve gradually. The art of Chinese harp, as a symbol of Human Being's Oral and Non-material Heritage, is not only an important part of Chinese national cultural tradition, but also a cultural heritage and spiritual wealth of the whole mankind. However, compared with material heritage, the preservation and inheriting of intangible cultural heritage is facing a severe situation. As a result, with great changes of social life and rapid development of world economy, the ancient art of Chinese harp is facing great challenges and crises. So we Chinese people now encounter such a historical problem of preserving and developing our abundant historical heritage.The inheriting of the art of Chinese harp in Ming and Qing Dynasties is one of the most important fields in Chinese harp music. Schools, masters, music, songs and music scores were closely interwoven and all had a balanced development, which was fundamental to the development of the art of Chinese harp in Ming and Qing Dynasties. In these two dynasties, the inheriting of the art of Chinese harp had witnessed its ups and downs.The present paper is to analyze and study the inheriting of art of Chinese harp between Ming and Qing dynasties. It endeavors to outline the historical development and inheriting of the art of Chinese harp, and discuss its status and value in Chinese harp music and Chinese music history.
