On the list of "Qin, Chess, reading and painting", which is the basic requirement of the Chinese literati since ancient times, Guqin occupies the first place. It has the same culture root with Chinese ancient philosophy and aesthetic taste. Guqin had been taught and learned widely among the stratum of noble scholars in the feudal society. However, with the development and transition of the history and the decline of the noble scholar culture, it lost the necessary traditional literati group who could inherit this art. As a result, Guqin had almost vanished from late Qing Dynasty to the minguo period. After the founding of new China, Guqin is offered as a major in many conservatories of music, which not only brings the vitality in the learning of this art, but also affects the traditional learning and teaching profoundly. In line with the contemporary spirit of both calling the tradition and the promotion of keeping pace with times, this thesis tries to compare and analyze to advantage and weakness of the traditional inheriting and college teaching and makes the conclusion that Guqin, as one part of the cultural heritage, should be inherited and developed by both of the ways of the traditional inheriting and college teaching.
