Analysis Of The Northwest Frontier Security Issues Within The Framework Of The Shanghai Cooperation Organization

Due to the special geographical location, the Border Areas of the Northwest have become the top priority of our national security strategy. Northwest Frontier is adjacent to Central Asia. The security situation in Central Asia keeps changing after the Cold War. As a result, the regional security status has gradually become a hot issue for research. Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), established on June 15,2006, was the first regional organization founded by our participation. The favourable development of Shanghai Cooperation Organization will help maintain the safety of Northwest Border Areas and the stability of our surroundings.This paper attempts to discuss the possibility of maintain the security and stability of our Northwest Frontier within the framework of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. Therefore, this article analyzes most the security status of Central Asia after the Cold War and offers a penetrating understanding of various factors impacting on the Central Asia security, based on which, the research initially analyzes the formation of this regional organization—Shanghai Cooperation Organization closely related to both China and the other Central Asia countries and defines New Security Concept advocated by Shanghai Cooperation Organization. Then, the paper elaborates the strategic significance of Northwest Frontier for China's national security from a geopolitical perspective and also demonstrates the influence on the safety of our Northwest Border Areas from Central Asia regions. Finally, the paper sums up the overall features of the security issue of our Northwest Border Areas and puts forward probingly the strategic proposal to maintain the safety of China's Northwest Frontier within the framework of Shanghai Cooperation Organization so as to ensure the security and stability of Northwest Frontier, creating a safe and stable environment for further development of China.
