The rapid development of information technology makes e-commerce as an inevitable trend. The electronic contract as an important part of the e-commerce, if we guarantee its safety we could promote the development and application of electronic commerce for the most part. The electronic contract as a new form of contract is a challenge to the traditional contracts. But it opens another door for people to accept something new about the network. Electronic contract has some advantages that traditional contract doesn't have. In the process of signing electronic contracts, offering and acceptanting are based on data messages, e-mail and other electronic means, the contract signs between the parties do not like the traditional contract that requires the parties "face to face", which can save transaction costs and improve economic efficiency. The parties of electronic trading determine the identity through password authentication, or certification bodies. And the parties can be any natural person,legal entity and its related organizations of any region of any country, which can be a good solution to achieve different parts trading.Electronic contracts can be more effective management with contracts. Many corporations would accumulate large amounts of paper contract every year, if placing them in the file cabinet is very difficult to effectively manage. For some companies introducing of the ERP systems, this problem is particularly prominent. Because the paper contracts do not input in the database system automatically, so it is difficult to participate in the company's decision-making, budget and a series of management activities, which brings trouble to the normal operation of the enterprise. However, if using electronic contract, the data of electronic contracts can be directly introduced into databases, and attributed to classification. This is a big convenience for enterprises to contract managements."Contract Law", "Model Law on Electronic Commerce," especially " Electronic signature law" determine the legal status of electronic contracts, and specify that they have the same legal effect with the traditional contracts, which provide legal support to the development of electronic contracts. And the current relevant technology supports electronic contracts too. In such a mature environment, the electronic contract will have a broad space for development. While we celebrate the fast development of information technology, we must also see the emergencies such as computer viruses, network attacks and other emergencies, which will threaten the security of electronic contracts. Therefore, the security of electronic contracts is particularly important. To protect the security of electronic contract requires the following four aspects:the integrity of electronic contracts, authenticity, non-repudiation and effectiveness. This is the problem needed to be solved in this article:how to achieve these four aspects.This article first does a brief overview of electronic contract, and gives in-depth analysis of requirements and security about electronic contracts system, then we propose the design of electronic contract system. Then we introduce the key technologies used in the system:PKI technology and electronic signature technology, B/S technology and digital watermarking technology, and analyses how these technologies ensure the security of electronic contracts. Electronic signature can ensure authenticity and identity of the contracting parties by a digital certificate. It can provide reliable proof of the issue of time by trusted time stamp. Trusted time stamp by the contract system can provide reliable proof of the issue of time. Digital signatures can ensure the contents of the contract of confidentiality, integrity and non-repudiation, which can effectively store and evidence related to electronic evidence in order to achieve confidential transmission of electronic contracts, the integrity of data exchange, the non-repudiation of sending information, the certainty the identity of transactions, thus ensuring the availability of electronic contract and non-repudiation of the arbitration.Electronic contract as an important part of the e-commerce, or even the core, so it's safety is related to the development of e-commerce directly. Electronic contract system is proposed to insure safety and efficiency while signing the electronic contract,which has some theoretical and applied research value.
