Chinese women's movement regarded the economic independence as an important symbol of the emancipation of women at all times, and attained social position of women had become an important means of economic independence. Thus, female employment had become one of the important aspect of women's liberation. This paper regards the The Ladies' Journal (1915-1931) as the study center and make career issues of women as the starting point, trying to present speeches about the career issues of women in newspapers and magazines in different perspectives, to interpret and analyze the early Republican people's perspectives and views about female career. Whether speeches which advocateed or opposed women to seek social work, they were to some extent reflected the social concerns of female occupations. Some articles also suggested to develop vocational education by actively, breaking the traditional concept, consummate social system and other measures to promote women to buck for career. Issue debate of female whether or not, in essence showed the re-building of female double roles between family and society, while women since they went out of the house and enter into the society, they were obsessed by the dual roles between family and society, and they were struggled in reunification and to social.Conflicts about family or social roles of women, actually was a performance about conflicts between deep-rooted feudal ethics and modern civilization. Modern women should not be blindly follow a man or be changed to self for a man, but to have the ability to create life and self-awareness of self-reliance, so as to have an independent living space in the community.
