With the establishment of the new China, in order to deal with the relationship between religion and socialism, the Communist Party of China begin to focuses on China’s religious reality to develop our religious work. However, the "Cultural Revolution" disturbs the relation between religion and socialism and makes our country’s normal religious work in chaos. With the held of the Third Plenary Session of the Eleventh Central Committee, religious activities and religious freedom have been restored to normal; China’s religious work starts on the right track. After each stage of reform and development, the Communist Party China’s theory of the relationship between religions and socialism is much more mature. Generally speaking, religion and socialism are adapted with each other. In new period, our country faced with the religious situation and religious environment are changing. Taking history as a mirror, to summary experience or lessons of the Communist Party China in dealing with relationship between religions and socialism, to extract the essence of China Communist Party’s theory about the relation between religion and socialism, will be useful for dealing with the relationship between religions and socialism more properly.The paper tries to summarize the Communist Party China’s understanding and thinking of the relation between religion and socialism since the establishment of the China and to refine the theoretical contribution of the Party. The full text is divided into four parts: The first part mainly combs the historical origin of the relationship between religion and socialism, as well as Marx, Engels and Lenin’s understanding of the relationship between religion and socialism. Through expounding the historical origin of religion and socialism, we can know the Communist Party of China’s origin theory of relation between religion and socialism. The second part mainly introduces the reform and development of each period since China established, the Party understanding of religion and the socialist society. We can draw the conclusion that the Party understanding of the relation between religion and socialism not only come down in one continuous line, but also advancing with the times. The third part is mainly about the present stage, in the context of globalization and network era, new challenges and new problems facing China’s religious work, and the response of our party.
