Great changes brought by Thein Sein in Myanmar, since he came to power, Sino-Myanmar ties of compatriots might be changed or shifted. Official media and private media coexisted in the process of democratization in Myanmar, the media perception toward China is increasingly diversified, even more, misperceptions flooded. China has not been influenced by it,and then media diplomacy is not at hand for connectivity and cultural exchanges to meet the needs of economic corridor among four countries(China,India,Myanmar,Bangladesh). Therefore, the thesis’ s object research is the media in Myanmar, to explore the objective and true cognitive coverage related China by Myanmar’s official media and private media at the democratic transition period. And, importantly, the thesis analyzes the reasons and explores solutions for it.The study analyzed the reports related China from The New Light of Myanmar(2010-2013), which induced by correlation analysis and regression analysis in genre, length, layout, material source, tendency, subject and focus, to understand its form and trend. Communicators, communication content, media, audience and communication effect will be analyzed in the myitsone dam events as a case in point. The thesis wants to know the process of communication for the events reported, aims at grasping the laws of changes for public opinion reported by private media. In the end, whether the misperception is or not, a judgment will be made by the comprehensive qualitative index, and the causes and the path selection of the misperception will be analyzed. The perception toward China is inconsistent with facts for the rational cognition, set thinking and perplexing historical burden. There are four misperceptions: “ China threat theory, Geopolitical pivot country, anti-China, Pan-politicization”. To minimize the misperception, firstly, we should understand the perception, the strategic significance for the two sides, understand the relationship among China, the junta and new government in Myanmar, and China direct investment interest to Myanmar for itself. Secondly, creative intervention to promoting the peace talks between the North ethnic militias and government. Lastly, strengthen the soft power in communication, cooperation with media in Myanmar, education and training.
