In recent years, the relationship between Japan and India continues to heat up,especially maritime security and cooperation between the two countries. Therefore, this thesis aims to research in recent years, India and Japan’s maritime security cooperation, cooperation history between the two countries, current situation, prospect and the presence of hindering factors analysis.During the cold war, relations between the United States and Japan kept warm. The Soviet India also kept frequent interaction. There lacks enough common interests to promote bilateral relations between India and Japan. After the end of the cold war, the United States and the Soviet Union eliminated the barriers between the two camps, the contact between different countries have been an unprecedented increase. The mutual interest demands between India and Japan increased, the relationship between the two countries gradually warming. In recent years, the exchange of visits between the leaders of the two countries is frequent, and the maritime security dialogue between the two countries is gradually mechanism..Both countries have actively carried out bilateral and multilateral joint military exercises for the coinsurance offshore energy security channel, also including combat piracy and terrorism. Not only safeguard the interests of their own countries, but also improve the international reputation. Not only that, military cooperation between the two countries have gradually entered the stage of mechanism. From the perspective of national interest, it can be found that there are two main reasons for the security cooperation between India and Japan. On the one hand, it is the multi pole pattern that promotes the strengthening of the mutual recognition of national interests between India and Japan. India and Japan are two fulcrum maritime strategy, the alliance strategy can effectively eliminate the effects of China’s rising. To curb the rapid rise of China, the United States took return to the Asia Pacific strategy, which also provides an opportunity to strengthen maritime security cooperation between India and Japan. On the other hand, the identity of the India and Japan to broaden the intersection of national interests. There are some degree of affection between Japan and India, which the two countries do not need to care historical grievances and territorial disputes in the development of relations. In addition to the mutual recognition of the democratic values, in an attempt to join the common pursuitof the Security Council of the United Nations, and the two countries have already established friendly strategic partner relationship are both greatly promotes the process of cooperation between the two countries. However, behind the warm relations between the two countries, there are a lot of obstacles. First of all,the two countries’ strategic interests in India ocean are different, especially the conflict between India’s India ocean crux and Japan’s interests.Secondly, the economic foundation of bilateral cooperation is weak, not conducive to lasting in-depth future bilateral cooperation in maritime security development. Finally,India’s nuclear deterrent policy and the Japan’s national nuclear shadow psychology.India has not given up on the development of nuclear weapons for national interests, which makes it difficult to accept for Japan as it experienced nuclear weapon harm before.India and Japan’s move will further reduce China’s maritime security space, pose a threat to China’s offshore energy channels. In this regard, China must take all kinds of effective measures to offset the adverse impact and facing up to all kinds of challenges encountered in the process of the rise.
