During cold war, because of the influence of international environment and the factor of geography, the relations between India and Japan were lukewarm. The relations of India-Japan were deeply influenced by bipolar system. Japan was follower of U.S. in terms of diplomacy, ally of it in terms of military affairs; India insisted on non-alliance and maintenance of intimate relations with Soviet Union. At that time, the cooperation between Japan and India was only limited to economic sphere. After the end of Cold War, in face of changes of international situation, driven by common interests such as those of politics, economy, security, containment of china, etc. as well as support and promotion of U.S. , the relations of India-Japan gradually began to get warming. In 1950s, Japan put forward economic diplomacy, under the guidance of which Japan began to broaden the economic relations with India. With the rapid economic development of Japan after second World War, to become a political power was made as the Japanese new aim. In order to realize the aim, Japan adjusted positively the politics toward India and took some new politics in terms of political communication, economic cooperation and strategic cooperation. At the same time, Japan was politically inclined to India in order to get more Indian political support and realize its own political aim. Because of some historical reasons, Asia has been the political sphere that Japan takes priority to get. Because there aren't historical contradictions between India and Japan and India is the second largest developing country in the world, playing well the"India card"is very significant for the improvement of relations between Japan and other Asian countries. In respect of the perspective of the relations of India-Japan, United States, China, and strategic requirements of India and Japan play important role. Japan should pay more attention to the competitive relations among China, Japan, and India and shouldn't conceive the idea of"ally with one part and contain the other", a big harmonious triangle composed of China, Japan and India will contribute to the maximization of the their interests.
