Miyi Sugar Co. Ltd., a state-owned small and medium-sized enterprise, has a history of more than 30 years. Since the reform and opening up, great changes have taken place in the economic environment and market supply and demand have experienced great changes, too. But because of poor economic results, the company was once trapped in financial difficulty. In recent years, while transforming into a market-oriented company, Miyi Sugar Co. Ltd. has been given priority to technological innovation and the development of new products. Thus, the company reduced it's losses and increased it's profits and promised a bright future. The thesis analyses some cases of the development of new products, discussed the technical problems and management of new products development. Finally the author gives some proposals on the technical problems and management, aiming to seek a more scientific way to promote the development of new products. The first chapter, The Importance of the Development of New Products in Miyi Sugar Co. Ltd., begins with the history and the present conditions of the company. Then, it analyzes the changes of the environment outside the company, presents the challenges and opportunities which are faced with the company, and points out that it is important and necessary to develop new products in Miyi Sugar Co. Ltd.. The second chapter, The Practice in the Development of New Products, firstly analyzes the development background, and social, technical and economic value of the project of the sugarcane residue board. The author elaborates its economic contributions to society and the company, presents the specific process of the development, and finally summarizes the way of the independent development of new products. Secondly, the chapter introduces another project of sugared calcium concrete retarded water reducing agent. Learning from the experience of the residue board, the author analyzes the transitional way of the independent development of the technology-heavy products. That is technical reasoning --- first test --- second test--- trial sales--- production --- market. Finally, the chapter compares similarities and differences of the two projects.The third chapter, The New Way of the Development of New Products in Miyi Co. Ltd., firstly points out that the company is entrusted to do the research in the project of optics chemicals. It introduces the background of the entrusted project, expounds technical and economic feasibility, and the meanings and impact of the project. Secondly, turning to another project of saponin, the author analyzes the saponin products, displays the threats the products may pose to Miyi Sugar Co. Ltd., and comes up with the ways to get rid of the threats. The end of the chapter emphasizes that the product can regulate the economic structure of the company. The fourth chapter, Some Thoughts on the Development of New Products in Miyi Sugar Co. Ltd., firstly combines the development of new products with the strategy of the enterprise under the background of west development. Secondly, by comparing the two different ways of the development, it brings forward a new model fit for the development of new products. Finally, it suggests a new kind of management suitable for the development of new products and a simple way of checking and evaluating projects. Miyi Sugar Co. Ltd. shares the same characteristics with many state-owned small and medium-sized enterprises. Therefore, the methods that Miyi Sugar Co. Ltd. employed to develop its new products can be applied to many other enterprises. The end of the thesis puts forward some proposals on the development of new products in the state-owned small and medium-sized enterprises.
