Thus there had developed many kinds of famous and special-quality fruits .For examples, Yantai apples, Laiyang pines, Feicheng peaches and so on have been known all through the China and foreign countries. Since liberation, especially the reform and opening to outside world, fruit-planting area and fruit output have both become the first in China, especially the apple area and product accounts for the most part. Fruit developing has been the third industry behind the grains and vegetables. Fruit output value has occupied over fifteen percent of the total agriculture output value. Fruit industry has become the leading industry of economic development. Shandong has become the biggest fruit production province, however it isn't the most developed than those developed countries. The lags are as follows. Firstly, it is that the low product per hectare yield; next it is that the small proportion of top quality and high grade fruits; thirdly, it is that the low industrialization. In recent years, with the rising fruit productivity, contradictions between product and marketing has been intensified. Because there are the improper proportions among fruit varieties and fruit tree varieties, fruit price has universally fallen down, especially the large staple of apples growing ripe in late seasons. Although there are many problems existing today, Shandong enjoys exceptional advantages than other provinces majoring in planting fruits. In addition to excellent natural environments, Shandong owns superior social and economic conditions, such as advantageous geography position, facility transportation, excellent history foundation and scientific research environments, the abundant of labor force and the large number of consumers. From the present and future developing trends, there will be huge demand potentials for Shandong's fruits. Firstly, there isn't enough need for fresh fruit, with the improvement of people's living standard, the need for fresh fruit will keep increasing; Next, fruit processing products have promising prospect, not only to foreign consumers but to civil consumers, the needs for fruit juice, wine etc continue to rising. Thirdly, there will be favorable circumstances and rivalries 3 at international fruit market, in order to grasp all the opportunities at the same time to meet the facing rivalries. Shandong province has to recognize the situation clearly. As the developing gaps are bigger than the developed counties, it is important for Shandong fruit industry to benefit from the successful experiences and models.
