Gansu Province, Sustainable Urban And Rural Economic Development

The development of urban and rural economy is an hot point in modern economics. The rapid development of regional economy in developed countries and the economic success in eastern coast of china make the economic theoreticians look for new economic growing point to so that mutual development and rich of both urban and rural area can be realized. In china the ultimate goal of balanced development in urban and rural economy is to satisfy~ continuously, the growing material and cultural need of people and to diminish ,the difference between urban and rural economy. Located in inland, Gansu province, characterized by its harsh ecological environment, poor live condition, low productivity and backward economic and cultural basis, is experiencing its initial period in socialism and facing acute conflict of low social productivity with increasing material and cultural demand of people. therefore, it is an urgent problem to enhance the balanced economic progress in both urban and rural area. In this papers the basic theory and methods of regional economy development were employed to analyze the history, present situation and basic conditions of sustainable economy development in urban and rural district in Gansu Province. The strategy and practices were suggested to provide scientific basis for the rapid development of Gansu Province in the exploitation of western china. The paper is composed of 7 parts: 1)Introduction, The purpose and significance of the study, current situation of the field in china and abroad, as well as the research thinking and possible initiative points were presented in this part. 2)Brief discuss of economy development of urban and rural region in Gansu Province. In this part, the concept of two-dimension structure of urban and rurality ?was discussed, the history and present situation of urban and rural economy development in Gansu Province were analyzed comparatively, the arrangement and movement of key productive factors, the characteristics of commodity flow, income and consuming of urban and rural citizen, property of population increase were analyzed and their developing tendency were forecasted. 3)Study on problems in commodity flow between cities and countryside. The situation and problems in commodity flow between urban and rural region in G~nsu Province were analyzed systematically and profoundly strategies for improving commodity flow were suggested. 92 4) Problems in distribution and consumption. Start form the understanding of history and present situation of distribution and consumption, the reasons of unbalanced progress and enlarged difference between urban and rural economy were discussed, and the strategy for the coordinate development was recommended. 5)Analysis of labour capital in Gansu. A mathematical model for population dynamics in Gansu was established on the basis of its history and present situation, which will forecast the population tendency, citification trend and its level in Gansu. Recommendation on optimum exploitation of labour resource was also provided. 6)Study on 3rd industry development. The concept and structural level were explained. Systematical analysis of situation and developing characters of 3rd industry in Gansu was pursued and the sustainable development strategy of the industry was suggested. 7) Strategy on economy sustainable development in Gansu.
