At the begirming of the 20th cefltury, lenin's theory of national relationship notonIy helPed Russia to solve its national problems, but also provided referencesfor other states solving the same problem.In the late 1980s and also at the beginning of the 1990s, the national splittist and ethnic separatist wave overflowed the Soviet Union and othermulti-national states, uncovering the fact that these states have solved theirnational problems. People began to suspect lenin's theory of national relationshipand the ways in which socialist states solved national problems. The 2l st centuryhas arrived, how to understand and solve various and comPlicated nationalproblems should be placed on the obvious position in multi-national states oramong nation-states. This thesis, which is based on the StatCmeflt of lenin'stheory of national relationship and its successful practice and a consideration ofthe new circumstances and charaCteristics of the world after the Cold War te11speople that in the modem community we can also employ the same theory tounderstand and solve the national problem in one state or among states.This thesis is made up of three pnds.The first part makes a statement of Lenin's theory of national relationship anditS successful practice. After the October Revollltion, lenin restated the principleof the national self determination's right in order to carry forward the revo1utionin Russia and to greatly suPport their struggle for liberation in the oppressednatiQns.Wth regard to selecting the aPproriate state-system to slove nationalprob1ems, lenin 1ed Russian popele to construct the united nation and made agreat success. Besides, he proposed that communication and corporation should3be strengthened among nations in order to achieve the goa1 of comlnondevelopmellt and prosperityThe second part analyzes the response of lenin's theory of nationalrelationship in the modem society Just because of going against lenin's theory ofnational relationship and other related reasons, the Soviet Union disintegrated.When we look at the modem community, especially after the Cold War thenational splittiSt and ethnic sepaxatist waves have overflowed alI of the worId.The national sepratist's excuse in essence is to mislead the understanding ofnational self determination 's right. Forthermore, the thesis uncovers andcriticises the distorted national unitism, the pan-nationalism and thehegemonism.The third pari probes into the effect of lenin's theory of national relationshipin the modem conununity. Although the theory fOrmed almost one century ago,on how to understand and solve various and complicate national problems in theworld, people can also be enlightened by it. l. Lenin's theory of nationa1relationship can be used as the standard of properly understanding and dealingwth the request of many other nations' independence today; 2. It can be used asthe magic weaPon of properly dealing with national relationship and protectingstate's unity; 3. It can be used as the principle of promoting nation'scommunication among nations in differeni states for common development andprosperity; 4. It can be used as the melltal weaPon of fighing against thehegemonism and power politics.
