The balance between supply and demand of tourism hotel attaches much importance to the sustainable development of tourism. During the two decades the average growth rate of tourism hotel attains 24% per year, but the profit of tourism hotel has been constantly decreasing. The main reason leading to the decline of profit of tourism hotel is the imbalance between the supply and demand of hotel. Such imbalance has different characteristics at the different time. At the beginning of reform and openning the great demand for tourism hotel could not met. With the central government and the local government as well as many departments investing tourism hotel the demand for hotel has been gradually met. During these years the tourism hotel has a large surplus because of the decline of foreign tourists resulting from Asia financial crisis and few domestic tourists with low income.There are many reasons which bring about the imbalance between the supply and demand of tourism hotel. The first reason is that the tourism does not follow usual pattern, which first develops entry tour and then develops domestic tour. The result is that few domestic tourists can afford to consume at the tourism hotel. The second reason is the improper measures of marketing and the lack of financial support for developing tourism product. The third reason lies in the low barriers for entry and the high barriers for bankrupcy of tourism hotel, which makes difficult for tourism hotel to go bankrupt. From the above-mentioned analysis the conclusion is that the surplus of tourism hotel belongs to relative surplus, which is the result of the growth rate of supply of tourism hotel exceeding the growth rate of demand. The surplus has also resulted from the difference of supply and demand in structure. As long as the increase of tourism hotel can be validly controlled and the demand for tourism hotel can be promoted, the relative surplus can be got rid of. The main strategies of eliminating surplus of supply and promoting demand include the strategy of professional management and scale management, marketing using internet resources, encouraging tourists to consume at the tourism hotel. Thus the tourism hotel can attract lots of tourists and make much profit.
