After the 2 World War,there appeared new vitality in the west Capitalist society. The vitality arose from Industy Revolution based on electronic technology. Deviating from the prophecy of Marx,Capitalism had not died ,but had been developing more vigorously.Unlike those who affirmed that Capitalism, had entered a state of piping times of peace, Herbert~Marcuse analysed its new problem-crisis of man. In 1964, his masterpiece ne Dimensional Man?was published. In it, Marcuse revealed and criticized the contradictions newly emerged from modem Capitalist society.By analyzing the phenomena of Alienation and Assimilation in modem Capitalist society, Marcuse pointed out its main characteristics neimensionality?to arouse man's diniensionalities of denial,critique and transcendense. Thus, his unique theory, the theory of "One-Dimensionality" came into being.Being full of the spirit of humanitarianism, the theory of ne-Dimensionality?sung high praises of man's value and the principle of subject from the angle of philosophical view. The theory supplied the firsthand materials and another angle of view for people to study Capitalism,which is good for us to construct our socialist country and to develop the theories of Marxism.At the same time, the theory tried to find the orientation for human being in the future from the angles of ethics and sociology.But Marcuse only analysed the phenomena without finding a correct way for human liberation. This thesis aims at developing what is useful or healthy by pointing out the significance of the theory and discarding what is not by criticizing its weakpoints according to some related theories of Marxism.
