Research On The Comparison Of The Theory Of Alienation Between Marx And Marcuse

Theory of alienation of Marx has been closely watched since founded, and it is a hot topic in the research both at home and abroad. Western Marxist criticizes and studies the alienation problem in the field of ideology with alienation as the center concept and than construct the theory of alienation. Among them, Herbert Marcuse (the representative figure of Frankfurt school) is a master of western Marxist alienation research. His theory highlights the deep concern and attention of person in the capitalist industrial society, but the theory of alienation is abstract, and separate from the material basis and the practice. It contains certain reasonable component, but also to a certain extent, it misreads and misunderstands the alienation theory of the Marx and deviates from the Marxism.The paper combines comparative analysis method and history class analyzing method, comparative studies the theory of alienation of Marx and Marcuse. First of all, on the bass of tidying up the social background and theory origins of alienation theory of Marx and Marcuse, the paper systematically summarizes the main content of the theory of alienation. Second, it compares and analyzes the relations and difference of alienation theory of both sides, and analyzes the similarities of thought with criticizing the capitalist system, paying attention to man’s real life and visioning the future society as the perspective; and it explains the differences between alienation theory from the four dimension:the position of a class, the main body of alienation, the behavior and solvent of alienation, all those lays the foundation for the research of this paper. Finally, based on the above study, on the point of view of Marxism, this paper objectively analyzes and evaluates the alienation theory of Marcuse. Facing its progress, putting the lapsus of Marcuse theory, and combining with the positive factors of Marx’s alienation theory, it puts forward that in modern society we should correctly understand the dual role of the science and technology, strengthen the construction of spiritual civilization of modern society and adhere to research the Western Social Sciences by history class analyzing method.Based on the comparative analysis of the connections and differences between Marx and Marcuse’s theory of alienation in this paper, some enlightenment on a comparative study of Marx and Marcuse theory of alienation for contemporary social development is put forward standing in Marx’s position. It is useful for analyzing and understanding of today’s capitalist society, and help us better understand, uphold and develop Marx theory under the background of new era. It highlights the contemporary value and the explanatory power of Marxist theory.
