Purpose and Significance of the DissertationIn the next century, science and technology will be dominant, if any country has advantages in high-tech, that country will keep ahead in the development of economy and international competition. High-tech industry will be in the most important position in the economy of the country. High-tech production has distinct characteristic of high venture, but this kind of high venture goes against from low venture target of the bank, which decides to need a sort of special method for financing of high-tech production. This sort of method is venture capital, which accelerates the development of high-tech enterprise.A lot of technology productions are acquired in our country each year, but few of them are transformed into merchandise. The reason is the lack of venture capital. So it is urgent for us to develop venture capital in order to accelerate the development of high-tech industry. But venture capital is a new financing tool to us. It is different from the traditional financing tool, and it just begins in our country. We lack a lot of experience. Content and Viewpoint of the DissertationFirstly, the author expounds the definition,the origin,the action and the operational process, and shows that the important characteristic of venture capital are high venture,big profit and gaining profit by changing capital into cash. Venture capital is original from America in 1950's.Morever, the author introduces important actions and four stages of venture capital.Secondly, the author introduces general aspect of American venture capital, from which we may learn some suggestions. The author also shows and analyzes system of American venture capital; and government should take measures to help the development of venture capital. Thirdly, the author expounds that the reason that our high-tech enterprises lag at present is the lack of venture capital.
